I know this doesn`t sound like my cup of tea, but I watched the Superbowl last evening. Some call it "the Stupidbowl." I do feel stupid watching football, having just learned the rules of the game a few years ago when one of my friends explained the concept of the two lines -- the one with the big fat guys, and the one with the faster fellows. That minor detail had always eluded me. Once you learn that, the game becomes much more interesting. I still don't get when and why they kick the ball when they do, and why players don't get charged with assault when they tackle the living shit out of each other.
In true Superbowl fashion, I got drunk and ate bad food that left me with a stomachache and a rough day today. My team lost. I was cheering for Chicago -- something I decided 2 minutes into the game when they opened with a touchdown.
The half-time spectacle featured Prince who looked like he may go to the same plastic surgeon as Michael Jackson. He did a medley that, of course, included Purple Rain. My superbowl companions and I agreed that medleys generally suck. I loved Prince back in the day, but even in my superbowl haze, I found him to be a ridiculous parody of his former self. One of my superbowl companions pointed out that he doesn't go by the name "Prince" anymore; he is just that fancy P-sign.
Then, we saw the Dion attack-ad. We agreed that it was stupid of the Conservatives to run the ad in the second-half when people were either too drunk to absorb its message, or out getting more beer.
