Yesterday I was poised to buy a car. Even talked to my banker, and test drove one. Then, I woke up in the middle of the night and thought: I don`t need a car. Here are some reasons:
- Cars cost a lot. I would rather spend that money travelling. Getting one's arse to a tropical climate right now wouldn't be such a bad thing, would it?
- Cars are wrecking the earth. So, when you don't have a car, people think you are a really good person for trying to save the earth.
- Cars prevent people from moving their bodies. I would walk and bike more without a car. Maybe a little bit more, anyway.
- Not having a car means you can drink as much as you want when you go out. This may not be a good thing for me...
- Having a car means that you can find yourself in places like Walmart, buying ridiculous household items that you don't need.
- Not having a car gives you an excuse to not to visit those people out in the suburbs.
- People demand more of you when you have a car. They expect you to be on time, to deliver things across town, and other annoying things.

But Aggie... how, now, will you ever get all the way out to IKEA to scarf meatballs and mess with divorced firefighters' heads?
Aggie, I was going to write a post about this very same subject - especially the part about how not having a car keeps me from shopping too much - and I was going to submit it as an entry in the contest over at Dumb Little Man. But since you beat me to it, the least I can do is alert you to the contest. Good luck, I hope you win.
Thanks so much for the tip, Zoom. If I win the $100, I`ll buy you some bus tickets.
