I was out this morning for (likely) the last skate of the season. I beat the freezing rain. I wasn't out at 7 a.m. with the Ottawa hardcore MEC crowd. I was out there a bit later with a lot of hearty-looking seniors as well as a few oppressed-looking young fathers who had been sent out with children.
Side rant: Has anyone noticed how unfriendly a lot of Ottawa folk are? I'm not just talking about my porridge-faced neighbour who has trouble saying hello. This morning I greeted people on the way to the canal with a friendly, "Good morning." The only person who responded was a mentally-challenged gentleman.

I had no idea President Bush was in town this morning...
About the porridge - I am decidedly PRO-porridge, and ask you to reconsider your use of 'porridge-faced' as an insult. Although I agree porridge LOOKS repulsive, I find it delicious avec ou sans brown sugar. In fact, I prefer my porridge undressed.
I wonder if President Bush eats porridge?
These porridge fans are sensitive.
But what are you to do, Agatha? Had you called him lemon-faced, you'd have the citrus and vitamin C fans railing against you.
Meanwhile, you've explained why I am often taken for mentally-challenged by strangers.
Just a question: are you porridge folks the same ones that would tell me that haggis is a delicacy?
Absolutely not. Wrong heritage...
Perhaps your mentally challenged friend is the only one who is not emotionally challenged. All the "sane" people are bottled up with their stress, fear, and wish to cloak themselves in anonymity. Things are more friendly in the Mysterious East.
