People who collect things

I've become obsessed with people who collect things. I find the whole collecting thing so freaky, and yet so human. This weekend I met a woman who collects Bakelite bangles. Apparently, Bakelite is no ordinary plastic. If you are a real Bakelite collector, you must rub the plastic vigorously until it warms up, then give it a sniff. It should smell like burnt human hair and formaldehyde. How delightful! Anyway, that means you have the genuine thing, the real McCoy. These bracelets can be worth a fortune.

Just recently I started collecting butterfly broaches. I only want to buy them in thrift stores, because part of the fun is the find.

Now I'm going to become obsessed with you. Why butterfly brooches?

I collect orphan cups and old sex manuals.

I'd like to display them in show boxes by colour eventually. I think it would look nice in my apartment.

Do you collect anything?

I seem to be just collecting dust here -- and hairballs the size of tumbleweeds.
I was collecting fabric for a little while. But my attention span is short.
Psychic: I may have some old sex manuals kicking around for your collection. They are fun to read.

The bracelets are quite lovely - a worthy collection.I don't collect things for the sake of collecting -- just stuff I can use, like cookbooks, random dishes and odd chairs.

Mannequins, daguerreotypes, tintypes, cameras, vintage purses, rosaries, nuns, saint cards, postcards, cabinet cards, antique german playing cards, boxes, autograph books, hats, boudoir dolls, etc.

I have to say, when I read that you've become obsessed with people who collect things I couldn't help but think "She's collecting collectors!"
